On any project that is in production (i.e. it has customers that are using it), there will come a time when a change must be made; either a bug needs fixing, or a new feature must be added. At that point there are two possible choices; you can take the time needed to “do it right”, or you can take one or more “shortcuts” and try to get the change out the door sooner. Read more…

Open Source Evangelist

What the heck is an Open Source Evangelist? That’s the question I’ve heard several times in early 2004. While I was working with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) , I was a curious follower of Open Source Events that were happening at the campus. I was a member of Linux Center of Excellence (CoE) at TCS ; which helped me to learn and understand the latest happenings in Linux world.  Being a legacy guy, I was more interested into Linux running on Mainframe systems.  Read more…
